Our HIstory

Located at the heart of the Sandpoint Shopping District, Sharon’s Hallmark has been a downtown fixture for over 50 years!

In 1967, Don and Sharon Rench purchased a local pharmacy in downtown Sandpoint. Over the years, the Rench family opened additional businesses including a shoe store, durable medical equipment company, and the Hallmark store. After Don’s passing in 1988, Bi-Rite Drug was closed, and Sharon’s Hallmark moved into its present location at 306 N First Ave.

Their Daughter Deanna worked for her parents after school and on summer breaks through college. After a 23 year career at Schweitzer Mountain Resort, Deanna purchased the store from her mother Sharon in 2005.

She continues the family business philosophy–

Offer great merchandise at fair prices, treat your customers and employees like family, and be an active community member.

Deanna currently serves on the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Sandpoint Shopping District, Women Honoring Women, as well as chairs the Elk’s Women’s Golf League.

Deanna and her husband Craig enjoy golf, mountain biking, skiing at Schweitzer and time spent on Lake Pend Oreille.    Sharon continues to enjoy her well deserved retirement while still attending gift markets and scoping out new products.
